What is the MLT ?

The MLT measures your ability to use and understand Myanmar language in daily life and Business. It evaluates how well you combine, especially your listening and reading.

Are there any special qualifications needed to take the MLT?

The MLT is open to all non-native Myanmar language speakers.

Can elementary school or junior high school students take the MLT?

Yes, they can. There are no age restrictions for the MLT.

When will the MLT be held in this year?

Can I apply to take only some sections instead of all sections?

No, you cannot. You need to set both listening and reading sections.

At the time of registration, I will not be in the country/area where I want to take the test. What should I do?

Can I take the test in one day?

Yes, Each tests are given in one day. Length of each test are below table.
*It also takes additional 30min for briefing.

Can I retake the test?

Yes, you can retake the test as many times as you wish.

Levels of MLT
Do all test-takers take the same test and their level determined based on test scores?

No. MLT is separated to 5 levels: MB to M4. Each level has different test questions from other levels to measure test-taker’s Myanmar-language proficiency. Please choose a suitable level when taking MLT.

Registration
What do I need to know before I register?

Before you register, you must make sure test date and venue.
You will be required to prepare test fee, and be sure to bring ID on the test date.

When should I register for the test?

Seats might be full quickly, we recommend to register as early as possible. Deadline of registration is 1 month before the test date.

How do I register to reserve my seat?

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept following 3 options:
– Credit card (Visa, Master, JCB)
– Bank transfer ( CB bank)

How should my name appear on my registration?

Your name and the spelling of your name must match the name printed on the valid ID document you will present at the test center. If this information does not match, you will not be permitted to test, and your test fee will not be refunded.

I have a multiple-part first or last name. How should I enter it?

Enter your name exactly as it appears on the ID document you will bring to the test center. If the names do not match, you will not be permitted to test and your test fee will not be refunded.
List all names that appear on the ID document you plan to bring to the test center. Multiple first/given or last/family names can be entered together in the appropriate box. For example, if your name is “Jean Louis Smith-Davis,” enter “Jean Louis” in the First/Given Name(s) box, and enter “Smith-Davis” in the Last/Family Names box.

I don’t have a first (or last) name. What should I do?

If you do not have a first or a last name, enter the name(s) you have in the Last Name field and leave the First Name field blank. This is because the Last Name field is a mandatory field, and the First Name field is not.

Will I receive a confirmation of my registration?

Yes — you can get a confirmation card after finishing payment. We send a confirmation card through email 1 week before the test date.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

· We can not refund the examination fee and other material fee once it’s paid, regardless of reason.
· If the examination can not be held due to circumstances of MLT organizer side or inevitable situation, you can carry forward the right to take MLT test to the next test. However if you can not take examination due to your own reason, you can not carry forward to the next test.

What is the best way to prepare for the MTL test?

Test Sections
Can MLT team tell me if my answer for each question is correct or wrong?

No. We don’t answer it. However, you can know correct answers in “Latest past test book” which we will publish about one month after each MLT.

Will I be allowed to go for a break during the test?

– Yes. Raise your hand if you need to leave your seat for toilet break.
– Be reminded that total length of the test time does not change, time clock does not stop while you are absent from your seat.
– You are not allowed to leave for toilet during listening section.
– You cannot use your cell phone, smartphone, or any other electronic device or unauthorized aid during the test or during breaks.

What things should I remember to do before test day?

Bring valid identification that exactly matches the name you used when you registered. If you do not have acceptable identification, you may not be permitted to test and your test fee will not be refunded.
Bring confirmation card given when you register.
Make travel plans to get to the test center. Your test registration confirmation will list the street address of the test center. Arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled start time.

Does the MLT include questions that require cultural knowledge of Myanmar?

No question specifically asks cultural knowledge of Myanmar. Some questions may refer to cultural aspects, but all questions can be answered without cultural knowledge.

Who owns copyrights of the MLT test questions?

Test question copyrights are held by test organizers, which is MLT association.

Can I keep the test paper after I take the test?

No, you cannot take the test paper with you. If you do, you will automatically fail the test.

Are all MLT answers multiple-choice scored?

Yes, the MLT uses a multiple-choice -scored answer sheet. There are four choices for most questions, although some “Listening” questions have only three choices.

What kinds of questions are in the MLT?
Can I take only one section of the test?

No. The entire test must be taken at the same time. To receive a score, you must answer at least one question each in the Reading section and the Listening section.

Test Day
What things should I remember to do before test day?

If we are late, can I take test?

Basically, we don’t allow latecomer to take a test once the test starts.

What should I do if I see suspicious behavior at the test center?

Please contact MLT staff immediately to report any observed behavior that may lead to an invalid score — for example, cheating, taking a test for someone else, using notes or unauthorized aids. Your report information is kept in strict confidence.

Scores and Score Reports
What is on my score report?

Your score report includes scores for each test section and a total score.

How can I get certification?

For passed test takers, we send certificate in PDF format by Email. If you would like a hard copy, please tell us so by email by the deadline stated in our email.

How and when do I get my scores?

Scores will be sent by Email approximately 1 month after the test date. We will not tell you scores even if you make a phone call to us or come to MLT office.

How long are scores valid?

 It will be valid for entire your life.

Who do I contact if there is a problem with my score report?

The scores I received are different from what I thought I would get. Can I have them confirmed?

Individual examinees’ scores are calculated not only mechanically but also strictly checked by specialists. As clearly stated in the Test Guide, we do not accept any inquiries regarding an individual’s test results.

What will happen if I don’t take a test section?

Examinees will be judged to have failed if they miss a required test section. Although they will receive a Score Report, it will not show scores for any test section, including those that have been taken.

If my score does not reach the minimum required in a Scoring Section, can I take only that section again and pass the MLT if I get an acceptable score?

No. A judgment of pass or fail is made only for examinees who take all sections each time the test is given. Therefore, pass or fail cannot be determined if you take only a section where you previously failed to achieve a minimum score. You will pass the MLT when you take the test for all sections on a subsequent occasion and earn (1) the minimum acceptable total score and (2) a minimum acceptable score in each Scoring Section.

If one section of my score does not reach the boarder, can I keep passed section score and take only failed section again in future MLT?

No. You can’t carry forward any section score to future MLT.

After the Test
What if my test is rescheduled or if there is a problem at the test center?

· It might be possible for us not to hold MLT due to matter of MLT organizer side or unavoidable situation such as natural disaster.
· In case of canceling the MLT or changing the starting time, we will announce on MLT website by 6:00 am on the test day. Please check the latest information on the MLT website.
· If MLT is not held due to circumstances of MLT organizer side or inevitable situation, you can carry forward the right to take MLT test to the next test. However you lose the right to take MLT if you don’t take the scheduled test by your own reason.

 

What if I observe questionable or unacceptable behavior at the test center?
Please contact us as soon as possible to report any observed behavior that may lead to an invalid score — for example, someone copying from another test taker, taking a test or part of a test for someone else, having access to test questions or answers before the test, or using notes or unauthorized aids. All information is held in strictest confidence. .
Does MLT association ever cancel scores?
MLT association may cancel scores in case of test-taker’s intentional errors (for example, violation of test time, wrong registration number, wrong ID, cheating), or natural disasters or other emergencies, prior access to test questions. MLT association does not refund paid test fees even if we cancel test-taker’s scores.
